Journey

Over the past three years, I have had the invaluable opportunity to explore, develop, and grow my skills as both a person and a cinematographer. My first year at university was particularly impactful as I was able to immerse myself in various roles and experiences. During this introductory year, I was encouraged to discover the many job opportunities available within the film industry. I tried out various roles, including Sound, Production, Set Design, and Costume. This wide range of experiences allowed me to understand the different aspects of filmmaking and how they contribute to the overall creative process. It was a time of exploration and creativity, where I did not feel pressured to commit to a specific role. Instead, I was free to experiment and learn what I enjoyed most about each position. This foundational year laid the groundwork for my future work and helped me identify my strengths and interests. It was an unforgettable experience that not only deepened my passion for film but also expanded my understanding of what it means to work in such a collaborative and dynamic field.

In my second year at university, I discovered a profound interest in the art of cinematography. It was fascinating to see how cameras not only captured images but also conveyed the intricate stories envisioned by directors through various lenses and unique interpretations. Each shot had the power to evoke emotions and narrate a tale in a captivating visual language. I found myself spending countless hours studying different cinematographic techniques, from lighting and framing to camera movements, which all play a crucial role in storytelling.

Finally, in my final year, I have been able to take everything that I have learned about cinematography and start applying it to various projects in the real world beyond the confines of university. This year has provided me with numerous opportunities to work on multiple graduate projects, allowing me to hone my skills and gain invaluable hands-on experience truly. I collaborated with fellow students on various film concepts, experimenting with different techniques and approaches to enhance our storytelling capacities. Engaging with these projects not only strengthened my technical abilities but also fostered my creativity and teamwork skills. As I reflect on these experiences, I am excited to incorporate what I have learned into my daily life moving forward, both personally and professionally. I believe that the knowledge I gained this year will serve as a solid foundation for my future endeavours in the field of cinematography and film production.
